en.Wedoany.com Reported - SCHWING Stetter India has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for truck-mounted concrete mixers in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, marking the company's first major manufacturing expansion outside its existing production base in southern India.

The new plant was inaugurated on June 27, 2026, with Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Limited, presiding over the opening ceremony. V. G. Sakthikumar, Chairman and Managing Director of SCHWING Stetter India, along with the company's senior leadership team, partners, suppliers, and employees, attended the event. Located in one of India's key industrial hubs, the facility aims to enhance service capabilities for customers in northern and eastern India while supporting export demand for neighboring and overseas markets. During the inauguration, Girish Wagh stated that the plant will strengthen the manufacturing and integration ecosystem for concrete mixer applications, meeting customer needs in both domestic and export markets. V. G. Sakthikumar noted that the new facility will enhance the company's manufacturing and supply chain capabilities while improving logistics efficiency through proximity to Tata Motors; this expansion reflects the company's strategy to move closer to customers in northern and eastern India.

The Jamshedpur plant covers 9,600 square meters and is dedicated to producing truck-mounted concrete mixers, equipped with assembly lines, vehicle integration areas, quality inspection and testing facilities, and dispatch operation zones. The plant design accounts for future capacity growth: Phase 1 has a monthly production capacity of 200 concrete mixers; as demand increases, the company plans to double capacity to 400 units per month in subsequent phases. The additional capacity is expected to boost the company's overall mixer truck output and enhance its ability to meet growing demand from infrastructure, construction, and ready-mix concrete projects. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to create approximately 200 direct jobs and 50 indirect employment opportunities, while supporting supplier development and the industrial ecosystem of Jharkhand.

Jamshedpur was chosen for its manufacturing ecosystem, industrial workforce, and proximity to Tata Motors' vehicle manufacturing operations, enabling closer coordination between chassis production and concrete mixer manufacturing, reducing logistics complexity, shortening supply chain lead times, and improving integration between vehicle platforms and mixing equipment. This investment comes at a time when infrastructure development projects across India are driving sustained demand for ready-mix concrete transport solutions, with growth in roads, bridges, airports, metro systems, and industrial facilities increasing the need for efficient concrete mobility solutions. SCHWING Stetter India began operations in 1998, with a product portfolio covering batching plants, concrete pumps, boom pumps, mixer trucks, self-loading mixers, and shotcrete equipment. Prior to the Jamshedpur investment, the company operated five manufacturing plants in southern India, including a global manufacturing center in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu. Products manufactured at the new plant will meet international quality standards and serve South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries and other overseas markets. The company also plans to evaluate the feasibility of producing other concrete equipment at this site based on market demand.
