en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 5, German construction machinery manufacturer Liebherr launched the new-generation MK 88-4.2E mobile construction crane, with a maximum lifting capacity of 8 tonnes and a maximum working radius of 45 meters, at which it can lift a 2.2-tonne load. The new model adopts a four-axle chassis and offers an axle load configuration of less than 9.2 tonnes, keeping the gross vehicle weight below 36.3 tonnes, with series deliveries scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027. The product is an upgraded model of the MK 88-4.1E mobile construction crane.

The MK 88-4.2E offers three axle load configurations: 12 tonnes, 10 tonnes and less than 9.2 tonnes. Liebherr redesigned the vehicle chassis and counterweight structure, dividing the counterweight into multiple detachable sections and adopting easily removable outrigger beams. The new model is equipped with 445/75 R22.5 wide tires and aluminum rims to accommodate road weight restrictions in markets such as the United States, Australia and Denmark.

For the first time in Liebherr's MK series, this model offers an optional self-assembly counterweight system, which can install the counterweight onto the chassis in two or three lifts using the crane's own hoisting mechanism, without the need for an auxiliary crane. The new counterweight hydraulic cylinders are integrated into the vehicle chassis, supporting counterweight installation and removal under the monitoring of the crane's operating system.

The new product also adds electro-hydraulic driven support and counterweight assembly options, which can be powered by the construction site grid or an external energy storage battery to complete on-site support and counterweight installation work. The equipment comes standard with a 16-ampere power interface, while retaining 32-ampere and 63-ampere power supply options, allowing operating speed to be adjusted according to the power available at the construction site, and supporting purely electric lifting operations.

The MK 88-4.2E inherits the boom system of the previous generation product and is equipped with independent rear-axle steering, with a vehicle turning diameter of 11.88 meters. Its Load-Plus intelligent load control system can automatically increase lifting capacity by up to 10% under specified operating conditions, and the crane can be powered by the construction site power supply or Liebherr's Liduro Power Port mobile energy storage system.
