In a statement, the club said that after nearly two years of consultations with project advisors, urban planning departments, and Transport Scotland, all application materials are now complete.

In February 2024, Dundee FC first submitted a planning permission in principle application to build a multi-purpose stadium and events complex with a capacity of 12,500. However, the approval process has since faced repeated delays. Club chairman John Nelms publicly criticized the council's handling, describing "inexplicable procedural anomalies" that could stall a project estimated to contribute £150 million to the city's economy. To push progress forward, the club directly wrote to Scotland's First Minister John Swinney and several senior political figures, and enlisted Dundee-born actor Brian Cox OBE, star of the TV series Succession, to join the campaign.

The club's statement said that since the initial application, the advisory team has engaged extensively with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the most comprehensive submission, believing it has now completed all necessary steps and looks forward to being considered at the next committee hearing. Nelms said the process has often been frustrating since the project's launch in 2017, but the team agreed to work privately with stakeholders at this critical stage, focusing on updating key feedback elements. Having completed all requested tasks, the club entrusts its confidence and the project's future to the city's elected representatives.
