en.Wedoany.com Reported - Emerson has added a flameproof model to the Rosemount 965 Flame Detector, which is certified for hazardous locations and suitable for applications requiring reliable hydrocarbon flame detection. The new model integrates QuadSense™ technology, offering factory-lifetime calibration, multiple integration options, and robust enclosure protection to support fire protection strategies tailored to application needs.

The flameproof model extends the application range of the Rosemount 965 to hazardous locations while achieving a practical balance between detection performance, reduced routine calibration, and deployment flexibility. QuadSense technology configures four infrared sensors to distinguish hydrocarbon flames from non-flame background radiation, enabling reliable detection and suppressing false alarms. Under specific conditions, the detector can detect hydrocarbon flames at distances up to 150 feet (45 meters), with a typical response time of less than 5 seconds. Users can adjust performance to application requirements through five selectable sensitivity levels.

The Rosemount 965 is factory-calibrated for life, helping to reduce repetitive calibration procedures. Built-in infrared testing capability continuously verifies optical and electronic integrity, providing confidence between manual inspection intervals. Output options include HART® communication, supporting integration with standard communication infrastructure; universal wiring helps simplify specifications and unify field deployment. IP66 and IP68 enclosure protection ensures performance in demanding operating environments.

The new flameproof model can be applied in environments such as oil and gas facilities, chemical and petrochemical plants, tank farms, hazardous material storage areas, and explosives or munitions sites. The Rosemount 965 also supports non-hazardous and light industrial applications, such as transportation infrastructure, public buildings, cable tunnels, semiconductor facilities, warehouses, and other locations requiring reliable hydrocarbon flame detection.

"Customers need flame detection technology that matches the risk, environment, and operational requirements of their applications," said Evgeny Rivkin, Flame and Gas Product Manager at Emerson's Measurement Instruments Business Unit. "This new flameproof model expands the Rosemount 965's application in hazardous locations, helping teams balance detection performance, false alarm suppression, and routine calibration needs."
