As a key event of the 2026 "APEC Digital Week," the dialogue was hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng and Governor of Sichuan Province Shi Xiaolin attended and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Approximately 400 representatives from government departments, academic institutions, renowned enterprises, industry associations, and international organizations across APEC economies participated in the dialogue.
In his speech, Li Lecheng noted that the Chinese government places high importance on the development of digital and artificial intelligence technologies, actively fostering new forms of the intelligent economy, and has achieved positive results. The outline of the "15th Five-Year Plan" proposes to further advance the construction of Digital China and enhance the level of digital and intelligent development. During the dialogue, Minister of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam Vu Hai Quan, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of Hong Kong, China Sun Dong, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Bella Cherkesova, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and Health of Singapore Tan Kiat How, and Mayor of Chengdu Chen Shuping attended and delivered speeches. Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiong Jijun presided over the opening ceremony.
Parties from the Asia-Pacific region focused on two topics: "Promoting Digital Transformation to Empower All Industries" and "Developing Artificial Intelligence to Enhance People's Well-being," conducting in-depth exchanges and discussions. All parties agreed that digital technologies, represented by artificial intelligence, are profoundly reshaping the paradigm of economic and social development. APEC economies should strengthen policy coordination and strategic alignment to jointly seize and shape the historic opportunities brought by the digital and intelligent era.
During the dialogue, the "Collection of Cases on Digital and Intelligent Empowerment in the Asia-Pacific Region" was released, showcasing the beneficial explorations and innovative achievements of APEC economies in digital transformation, intelligent applications, and industrial empowerment. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also held bilateral meetings with delegations from relevant economies to exchange views on bilateral and multilateral issues of common concern.
