en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 22, China Road and Bridge Corporation (Hong Kong) successfully won the bid for the Eastern District Rainwater Drainage Tunnel Project on Hong Kong Island, with the client being the Drainage Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
Located in the Eastern District of Hong Kong Island, the project is a key component of the improvement works for the regional rainwater drainage system. The scope of works includes constructing a rainwater drainage tunnel approximately 3.6 kilometers in length and about five meters in diameter using shield tunneling technology, extending from Shau Kei Wan and Chai Wan to Pak Sha Wan, along with seven intake shafts and connecting tunnels, one outfall, and related ancillary works. Upon completion, the tunnel will significantly optimize the rainwater drainage and discharge system in the Eastern District of Hong Kong Island, substantially enhancing the area's capacity to mitigate flood risks posed by extreme weather conditions, thereby establishing a robust water conservancy infrastructure barrier for urban safety and livelihood protection.

This successful bid marks the first time China Road and Bridge Corporation has undertaken a shield tunneling project in Hong Kong, holding significant strategic importance for the company's expansion into the underground space market in the region.
