Embraer and Korea's KAI Sign MoU to Explore Aeronautical Structure Cooperation

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Embraer and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation opportunities in the field of aeronautical structures.

KAI stated that this MoU will enable the two companies to identify areas of synergy based on their respective technical capabilities and expertise, focusing on joint development and cooperation in design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality control. KAI President Kim Jong-chul said that the MoU with Embraer is an important step in expanding KAI's international partnerships with leading global aerospace companies, and that the two sides will explore future cooperation possibilities based on their shared interest in aircraft structures and future aerospace technologies.

KAI is already part of Embraer's supply chain, producing wing lower panels and wing structures for the E-Jet E2 passenger aircraft series, as well as panels for the KC-390 tactical transport aircraft.

A possible factor driving greater cooperation between Embraer and KAI, as well as the broader Korean industry, is Seoul's 2023 decision to purchase three C-390 transport aircraft, with the first aircraft from that order completing its maiden flight in March.

In October 2025, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration reached an agreement with Embraer to explore further opportunities based on the C-390 order and enter the South Korean defense market. South Korea is also seeking to add six maritime patrol aircraft (MPA). At the Seoul ADEX air show in October 2025, Embraer promoted an MPA concept model based on the E190 E2 regional jet, as well as the possibility of an MPA variant of the C-390.
