For comparable applications, the line's footprint is approximately 28% smaller than conventional solutions, and it enables output monitoring across all process steps—from the slicer loading conveyor to the packaging of individual sliced products. Every component of the line is designed to MULTIVAC's hygiene design standards, particularly evident in the new operating module and product buffer. Components such as the slicer, swing arm, and grippers in the operating module can be changed over quickly and easily, allowing the solution to flexibly adapt to a variety of production tasks, such as slicing cooked or raw ham and packaging hard cheese into retail packs.

The complete line includes an Advanced series slicer equipped with a new loading conveyor and weigher, as well as a swing arm designed for hygiene, easy cleaning, and quick format changes. The line also features a product buffer and a new operating module with an open-frame structure, fitted with rapidly changeable grippers and a precision pick-up conveyor. Thomas Fickler, Product Manager for MULTIVAC thermoforming packaging machines, stated that output monitoring now covers the slicer's loading conveyor, with all product counts and production volumes continuously captured at four measuring points throughout the packaging process. Any production shortfall can be precisely traced to a specific process step, making optimization potential transparent and actionable.
Earlier this year, GEA launched the PowerPak 5000, a new thermoforming packaging machine aimed at medium-sized food producers, designed with a focus on ease of operation, repeatable output, and predictable lifecycle costs.
