en.Wedoany.com Reported - Poseidon Sea Pilots (PSP) recently completed the pilotage of its 1,000th different vessel in Melbourne. A member of the AMS Group, the company entered the Victorian pilotage market in 2022 and is a relatively new service provider in the region.
The vessel piloted on this occasion was the Cosco Philippines, chartered by ANL and serving the AAX-S route, with PSP guiding it in and out of Patrick's East Swanson Dock terminal. The pilotage was carried out by Captain David Porrett and Captain Tim Fitzgerald, with Captain Dmitrij Secin assisting on board during berthing.
When PSP's Melbourne operations began, it had six pilots, some of whom were initially shared with its Brisbane operations. In Victoria, the company competes alongside the established Port Phillip Sea Pilots and challenger APG (now Auriga).
PSP currently has nine pilots in Melbourne, with coverage extending across Melbourne, Geelong, Western Port, and Barry's Beach, supported by two pilot vessels, the Eyre and the Trident, with its local market share gradually increasing.
PSP stated that this milestone marks a significant moment for Poseidon Sea Pilots' Melbourne operations, owing to the collective efforts of its pilots, pilot vessel crews, and operational staff, as well as the continued support of customers and partners, including CMA CGM and ANL.
