en.Wedoany.com Reported - The redevelopment of Hangar 2 at Manchester Airport has selected Brett Martin's Marlon Clickfix polycarbonate sheets as the cladding material for the hangar doors. Once completed, the hangar will provide maintenance and parking space for Jet2.com's expanding aircraft fleet.
Marlon Clickfix sheets are manufactured to order, with lengths up to 12 meters, offering excellent light transmission and thermal performance, making them suitable for hangar door applications. Their installation helps maximize the use of natural light, creating an appropriate working environment for critical aircraft maintenance tasks. Jet2.com initiated the redevelopment of its original Hangar 2 as the fleet expanded, rendering the existing facility unable to accommodate additional aircraft parking and modern facility requirements.
The new hangar, built by Jet2.com in partnership with TSL and Todd Architects, covers a floor area of 6,300 square meters and can accommodate three narrow-body aircraft simultaneously. The hangar also includes staff welfare areas and an apprentice training suite, featuring classrooms and workshops designed to support the development of the next generation of engineers.
The hangar doors are supplied by Jewers Doors. This specialist door provider has a long-standing partnership with Brett Martin, having previously selected Marlon Clickfix sheets in numerous hangar projects across the UK and globally. For this project, eight Esavian 126-SBR sliding doors have been provided for Jet2.com's new hangar at Manchester Airport, with the door leaves featuring Glass Clear Marlon Clickfix sheets.
These eight doors are required to cover an opening measuring 78.5 meters wide and 19.32 meters high. Marlon Clickfix sheets can be custom-manufactured to lengths of up to 12 meters, thereby reducing the number of joints on large-scale door leaves, minimizing door weight and maximizing structural integrity—key considerations during material selection.

Stephen Wallwork, Project Manager at Jewers Doors, stated that the door cladding system needed to meet stringent U-value and light transmittance requirements, and Marlon Clickfix sheets excelled in these metrics, making them the natural choice for the project. The sheets offer a U-value of 0.99W/m²K and a maximum light transmittance of 74%, and can be used with glazing frame systems for vertical facades, pitched roofs, or curved rooflights.
Stephen added that due to the long-standing collaboration, Jewers Doors' design engineers, draftspersons, and installation engineers are familiar with the performance characteristics, installation sequences, and requirements of Marlon Clickfix, which streamlined the cladding system selection process.
