India's Russian Oil Imports Hit Record 2.8 Million Barrels Per Day in July 2026

en.Wedoany.com Reported - India's oil imports from Russia reached a record 2.8 million barrels per day (bpd) in July 2026, accounting for more than half of its total imports, the highest level since India began large-scale purchases of discounted Russian oil in 2022. India's total oil imports that month stood at slightly above 5 million bpd, roughly unchanged from June.

The availability of additional export volumes served as a further driver for India's expanded purchases from Russia. Meanwhile, Indian refineries have resumed procurement from Persian Gulf countries following supply disruptions caused by regional conflicts.

Among supplying nations, Saudi Arabia saw the largest increase, with shipments to India rising from 290,000 bpd in June to 420,000 bpd in July. Iraq's supplies to India, which had dropped to zero in April, continued to recover, with purchases nearly doubling from 67,000 bpd in June to 130,000 bpd in July—marking the third consecutive month of growth since supplies resumed in May. The UAE's exports to India fell from 510,000 bpd to 460,000 bpd, yet it remained India's second-largest oil supplier.

In the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market, India's supply in July remained heavily reliant on the United States. U.S. shipments that month exceeded 900,000 metric tons, accounting for approximately 73% of the total supply of about 1.2 million metric tons.

These developments highlight the growing diversification of India's energy supply sources, while also underscoring the continued significance of Russian oil in its import structure. The data was reported via the Times of India.
