en.Wedoany.com Reported - Orix Aviation has announced the acquisition of UK-based aftermarket specialist AerFin, expanding its footprint in aircraft engines, components, and end-of-life aircraft services.

The deal, announced on August 3, is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval. The parties did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction, but Japanese media reported that AerFin's enterprise value is approximately ¥100 billion ($638 million).
Orix Aviation will acquire AerFin from Danish private equity firm CataCap, which has been the majority shareholder of AerFin since 2019. Upon completion of the acquisition, Orix Aviation's service scope will cover multiple aftermarket segments, including aircraft and engine leasing, inventory management, parts sales, maintenance management, engine overhaul, and aircraft teardown and recycling.
James Meyler, CEO of Orix Aviation, said the acquisition represents a significant step in the company's expansion beyond its existing aircraft leasing and asset management operations. He noted that AerFin has built a leading aviation aftermarket platform with an experienced management team, deep technical expertise, and a global customer network.
AerFin was founded by Bob James in 2010 and specializes in the acquisition, leasing, sale, and maintenance of aircraft, engines, and components, providing airlines, lessors, and MRO service providers with material supply, inventory solutions, and engine MRO support. The company employs more than 230 people, is headquartered near Newport, Wales (relocated there in early 2025), and has operations in Miami, Singapore, and Dublin, serving over 600 customers worldwide.
Simon Goodson, CEO of AerFin, said Orix's support will provide the company with the financial resources and international platform needed to accelerate its growth. He believes that with the backing of Orix Aviation and the broader Orix Group, AerFin will gain stronger support, confidence, and a platform to become a more formidable player in the industry.
Orix Aviation was established in Dublin in 1991 and is a subsidiary of Japanese financial services company Orix Corp. As of March 31, 2026, Orix Aviation owns and manages over 230 aircraft, leased to more than 60 airline customers across over 40 countries. Orix also holds a 30% stake in aircraft leasing company Avolon and provides asset management services to Japanese investors, U.S. funds, banks, and other financial institutions.
The acquisition comes against the backdrop of a growing trend of aircraft lessors and investors venturing into the aftermarket. Industry specialists are facing maintenance capacity shortages and extended lead times for new parts, driving sustained demand for available used materials and alternative repair solutions.
