en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sinofibers Technology Co. Ltd. (Changzhou, Jiangsu, China) has completed the technical appraisal of its wet-spinning high-performance carbon fiber project, establishing a stable annual production capacity of 5,000 metric tons of T1100-grade carbon fiber. The material achieves a tensile strength of 6,600 MPa and a tensile modulus of 335 GPa.

The project employs a wet-spinning process to produce high-performance carbon fiber. Such fibers are typically manufactured using the dry-jet wet-spinning method. Sinofibers states that this project demonstrates the feasibility of large-scale production via the technically more challenging wet-spinning route.

To support this process, Sinofibers has developed several key technologies, including controlled synthesis of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursor fibers with narrow molecular weight distribution, a dual-diffusion regulation mechanism for rapid coagulation and fiber formation, and pre-oxidation and carbonization processes optimized for precursor microstructure.

The company has also developed specialized equipment, including externally heated pre-oxidation furnaces and integrated multi-zone carbonization furnaces, to improve temperature uniformity, enable continuous production, and reduce overall energy consumption.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Donghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nanjing Tech University, and Xi'an FuruiDa, resulting in 25 invention patents, 30 utility model patents, and participation in the formulation of one national standard.

Sinofibers states that T1100-grade carbon fiber has a tensile strength approximately 8 to 10 times that of traditional steel, while weighing about one-quarter as much. The material is planned for applications in aerospace, new energy vehicles, offshore wind power, low-altitude aircraft, industrial robotics, and high-performance sporting goods.
