en.Wedoany.com Reported - Andhra Pradesh, India, recently kicked off a hybrid wind-solar energy project with a total installed capacity of 800 MW. The project is owned by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), with a total investment of INR 57.5 billion (approximately USD 602 million).

The project comprises both wind and solar components: a 400 MW wind farm located at Kanekallu in Ananthapuram, and a 400 MW solar PV plant located at Pattikonda in Kurnool. Of this, 200 MW of solar capacity will be delivered as a firm and dispatchable renewable energy project for NTPC, supported by a 25 MW/50 MWh battery energy storage system, while the remaining 200 MW of solar capacity is reserved for future use.

Suzlon is responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the Ananthapuram wind project, while TPREL serves as the developer for both the solar and wind assets. The project secures 800 MW of interstate transmission system connectivity through the Ananthapuram Phase II and Kurnool-4 CTUIL substations, enabling the generated power to be integrated into the national grid.

The project spans approximately 3,462 acres, with 760 acres for the wind component and 2,700 acres for the solar component. Developed under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy, the project aims to attract large-scale renewable energy investments, increase installed capacity, and drive sustainable industrial growth in the state.

Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, stated that by integrating 400 MW of solar and 400 MW of wind capacity, the project will help develop reliable round-the-clock renewable energy to meet the nation's growing energy demand while advancing sustainable development goals. Tata Power's current renewable energy portfolio stands at 17.7 GW, with 9.8 GW under construction. The company stated that the project aligns with its goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2045 and supports India's national target of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel installed capacity by 2030.

Earlier this month, TPREL also commissioned a 100.8 MW wind power plant at Jewali in the Dhule district of Maharashtra.
