Gulf LNG Tugs of Brownsville is a joint venture formed by Bay-Houston Management LLC, Moran Towing Corporation, and Suderman & Young Towing Company. Together, the three parties bring over 400 years of combined experience in ship assist and towing services, and the partnership and its affiliates have contracted to serve five LNG terminals along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Harry Murdock, CEO of Sterling Shipyard, stated that the delivery of the Laguna Gulf marks a significant milestone for the shipyard and is the first of three LNG projects and an additional nine harbor tug orders, totaling 13 vessels, with contractual delivery scheduled before 2029. Murdock noted that Sterling Shipyard is honored to partner with Gulf LNG and its affiliates to deliver safe, capable, reliable, low-emission "workhorses" to support LNG terminal and port operations across North America.
The Laguna Gulf measures 99 feet in overall length, 43 feet in beam, with 7,000 horsepower and a bollard pull exceeding 80 metric tons. Its firefighting capabilities meet ABS Fire-Fighting Vessel Class 1 (FFV1) classification requirements to further enhance safety measures during terminal support operations.
