The carrier plans to launch the route between Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) on December 1, operating 5 flights per week using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. This route will make EVA Air the only airline offering direct passenger flights to India and will restore direct connectivity between the two destinations for the first time since early 2020.

China Airlines was the last carrier to offer direct service on this market, operating the Taipei-New Delhi route twice weekly with A330-300 aircraft before the pandemic outbreak. EVA Air's planned flight frequency will be more than double the previous service. EVA Air President Clay Sun stated that the launch of the Taipei-New Delhi direct route marks a significant milestone in the carrier's network development, as growing connections across manufacturing, semiconductor, artificial intelligence, and technology industries continue to drive closer economic ties between Taiwan and India.

Sabre Market Intelligence data shows that two-way passenger traffic between Taiwan and India in 2025 was approximately 158,500 passengers, up 25.8% from approximately 126,000 passengers in 2024. The market has also expanded 20.4% compared to 2019, when demand totaled approximately 131,600 passengers and direct service was available. In 2025, Delhi was the largest destination in the Taiwan-India market, accounting for approximately 42,000 passengers, or 26.5% of total demand. Bengaluru ranked second with approximately 33,000 passengers, followed by Mumbai with 24,100 and Chennai with 23,000.

With no current direct service on the market, more than 98% of Taiwan-India travelers in 2025 opted for one-stop itineraries. Bangkok was the largest transfer gateway, handling approximately 40.6% of traffic, followed by Hong Kong (25.8%) and Singapore (20.9%). These three hubs together accounted for more than 87% of the market. EVA Air will seek to capture a share of this traffic while leveraging Delhi as a transit point to other destinations in India. The carrier's partnership with Star Alliance member Air India will provide onward connections from Delhi to major domestic Indian cities.

Sun added that the New Delhi route not only provides more efficient travel options for business and leisure travelers but also strengthens connectivity between India and North America through the Taipei hub. The route expands EVA Air's ability to connect Indian travelers to its growing North American network. The carrier launched its Taipei-Washington Dulles route on June 26, operating 4 flights per week with Boeing 787-9 aircraft, expanding its North American network to 10 destinations.
