Naver reportedly invests approximately $7 million in Anthropic

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 10, South Korean internet company Naver's indirect investment in U.S. AI company Anthropic was disclosed. The investment was made by Naver Ventures, Naver's U.S.-based investment arm, through a local venture capital fund at the end of 2025, with a scale of approximately 10 billion Korean won, equivalent to about $7 million.

This investment did not involve directly acquiring Anthropic shares, but was instead conducted indirectly through an external venture capital fund. Naver Ventures was established in June 2025 and focuses on investments in artificial intelligence and other technology sectors. As of June 2026, the firm has directly invested in 9 startups and contributed capital to 3 venture capital funds, with cumulative investments exceeding $100 million.

Beyond capital-level engagement, Naver has expanded its internal use of Anthropic products. Anthropic confirmed in June this year that Naver has deployed the AI coding tool Claude Code across its entire engineering organization, with thousands of Naver engineers currently using the tool for code development and related tasks.

Naver is also considering making additional investments in Anthropic before its IPO, but such arrangements remain under evaluation. Naver has not yet disclosed the scale, timing, or specific method of the additional investment.
