en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, UK titanium dioxide pigment producer Tioxide launched its second phase of recruitment while continuing to advance commissioning at the Greatham plant. The company plans to resume chloride-process titanium dioxide production on one production line in August after key commissioning milestones are completed, and is currently still in the preparation stage for restart.

Tioxide's first round of recruitment following its establishment brought in more than 60 employees within 12 weeks, essentially completing the previously announced plan to hire 70 people, bringing the company's total workforce to over 200. The new round of recruitment will add approximately 60 production and technical positions to support the restart of the second production line, bringing the total number of new positions announced since April to around 130.

The Greatham plant was previously operated by Venator Materials UK and was placed into an idle state in 2025. China's LB Group signed an asset purchase agreement in October 2025 and completed the acquisition of the plant and related titanium dioxide assets on April 27, 2026, subsequently establishing wholly-owned subsidiary Tioxide to handle operations.

The plant has a historical nominal capacity of approximately 150,000 tonnes of titanium dioxide pigment per year, primarily producing TIOXIDE and DELTIO series chloride-process products for coatings and plastics. This restart will begin with single-line production, with the second production line to be brought into service once operating conditions are stabilized.
