The project is planned to begin importing semiconductor production equipment as early as November, with a mass production system expected to be established in the first half of 2027.

The new production line at the second Dalian plant is expected to have a monthly wafer input capacity of approximately 50,000 wafers. The first Dalian plant currently has a monthly wafer input capacity of about 100,000 wafers. After the second plant becomes operational, the combined capacity of the two plants will increase to approximately 150,000 wafers per month, expanding SK Hynix's local NAND flash production capacity by about 50%.

Construction of the second Dalian plant began in 2022, but equipment installation and mass production schedules were delayed for an extended period due to the memory market downturn and capital expenditure adjustments. TrendForce disclosed in July this year that the plant was expected to resume expansion in the second half of 2026, gradually introducing 238-layer V8 NAND production lines, with a planned monthly capacity of 30,000 to 50,000 wafers.

The Dalian production base was originally part of Intel's NAND and solid-state drive business. SK Hynix took over the plant after completing the first phase of the acquisition at the end of 2021 and established Solidigm to operate the related business. The second plant is a follow-up expansion project after the acquisition, with equipment installation and production line construction continuing until the first half of 2027.
