The company stated that its solar investments have avoided fuel costs, saving customers over $1.3 billion to date. In 2026, FPL will add 12 new solar energy centers, including the FPL Sea Grape Solar Energy Center, recently completed in St. Lucie County.

Tim Oliver, Vice President of Development at FPL, stated that this scale reflects the company's investment choices in power generation resources over the years. FPL's current generation portfolio encompasses solar, natural gas, nuclear power, and battery energy storage technology, and this diversified structure helps optimize system operations, ensure reliable power supply, and keep customer bills as low as possible.

FPL's solar energy centers are now operating in 30 counties across Florida and bring direct economic contributions. These facilities have driven local employment, contributing nearly $40 million in local property taxes in Florida in 2025 alone. Benjamin Balcer, Director of St. Lucie County's Planning and Development Services Department, noted that such projects attract investment, support the local economy, and help strengthen Florida's diversified energy infrastructure.

Beyond power generation, FPL's solar energy centers also prioritize environmental stewardship, providing habitats for native wildlife and pollinators. The company is also conducting agrivoltaics pilot projects at 53 sites, allowing the same land to be used for both solar power generation and agricultural activities. Florida rancher Morgan Lott stated that cattle help manage vegetation beneath the solar panels, reducing the need for mowing, and that FPL has been a collaborative partner throughout project implementation.

FPL currently operates 120 solar energy centers across 30 counties in Florida, with plans to activate 12 additional solar energy centers in 2026.
