RenewMap's New Platform Connects Operational Grid Data for 4,400 Energy Projects in Australia and New Zealand

The new platform adds transmission line flows and ratings, remaining capacity under thermal constraints, generation and curtailment statistics, and substation information to the existing map. Developers, market analysts, and policymakers can identify grid bottlenecks, screen candidate sites, and analyze asset performance within RenewMap.

RenewMap notes that operational grid data was previously scattered across multiple sources, disconnected from project pipelines, and difficult to locate, process, and link to actual grid assets. Teams screening sites often had to piece together spatial information on their own or delay decisions while waiting for grid studies. Operational Insights answers first-round screening questions in a single view.

The platform allows users to benchmark operating assets, review metrics such as historical curtailment, revenue, and line flows, and compare proposed sites against the performance of neighboring assets; it also enables users to compare potential sites with nearby or similar projects without switching tools, viewing equipment, remaining capacity, connection lines, and projects to understand development pressure around potential connection points.

Alex Thompson, co-founder and director of RenewMap, said that combining operational data with a highly accurate, up-to-date view of the project pipeline gives developers, government policymakers, and investors greater clarity and confidence in their decisions.
