CNPC Subsidiary and Uzbekistan Accelerate Deep Well Drilling Project
en.Wedoany.com Reported - CNPC Xibu Drilling Engineering Company Limited (referred to as "Xibu Drilling") and Uzbekistan's national oil and gas company (Uzbekneftegaz) are accelerating the deep well drilling project in the Ustyurt region. The two sides recently held working talks, focusing on rig deployment plans and the completion schedule for multiple wells.

According to the meeting announcement released by Uzbekneftegaz, the company's Chairman Abdugani Sanginov met with a Chinese delegation led by Xibu Drilling's General Manager Ai Xin. The two sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation and focused on joint deep well drilling initiatives in the Ustyurt region.
Both parties agreed that since their previous talks in Urumqi, China, where priority cooperation directions were identified, the partnership between the two enterprises has entered a new stage of development.
Under the existing contract, Xibu Drilling will deploy 9 drilling rigs for the project and complete the deep well construction tasks within the agreed timeframe. Currently, 6 of the 9 rigs have arrived at the operation site, 3 wells have officially commenced drilling, equipment is being installed at 3 additional operation points, and the remaining 3 rigs are still in transit.
Uzbekneftegaz stated that the mobilization, installation, and drilling operations of the rigs must be accelerated to ensure the project is completed on schedule as stipulated in the contract. Following negotiations, the two sides agreed to prioritize the completion of 3 wells by November 15, 2026, and the completion of 2 additional wells by December of the same year.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on geological data analysis and exploration plans for multi-layered oilfields, and discussed the adoption of directional drilling and horizontal well technologies to enhance overall project efficiency.
Sanginov stated that Xibu Drilling's advanced technologies and technical solutions will help Uzbekistan improve drilling efficiency and increase per-well production. The two sides also agreed to strengthen experience exchange among technical personnel, jointly address technical challenges encountered during operations, and accelerate the introduction of advanced drilling techniques.
Uzbekneftegaz stated that it will provide all necessary on-site support and cooperation to ensure the smooth progress of the joint project.
