en.Wedoany.com Reported - Gulftainer has taken delivery of four new rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes at Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal, part of the company's investment plan to add 20 new RTGs aimed at strengthening terminal operations and supporting business growth.

The company stated that this investment is intended to enhance terminal throughput capacity, bolster the resilience of the UAE's supply chain, and prepare Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal for sustained growth in global trade demand.

The arrival of these RTGs is part of Gulftainer's broader investment portfolio for the terminal, as the company continues to expand its terminal operational capabilities.

This investment comes as Khorfakkan strengthens its role in regional maritime connectivity. In July, GT Lines announced the launch of the Khorfakkan Tanzania Express (KTX) service, a new direct route connecting Khorfakkan, UAE, with Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The service was originally scheduled to commence in mid-August, operating every 10 days with two dedicated vessels, with a transit time of 9 days between the two ports.

The KTX service aims to link East Africa with the Gulf region, the Indian subcontinent, and the Far East via Gulftainer's maritime and logistics network. Cargo transported on this route can connect to Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal, Sharjah Commercial Terminal, Momentum Logistics' inland network, the Gulf Connect feeder service covering the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Iraq's Umm Qasr Commercial Terminal, and GT Lines' Far East and Indian subcontinent services.

Gulftainer said the new equipment will enhance handling capacity upon deployment, ensuring Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal efficiently manages continuously rising operational demand.
