en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 22, Austin Water in Texas, USA, advanced the Parker Lane neighborhood water and sewer pipeline renewal project and arranged for the project contractor to attend a resident construction briefing. The total cap for the construction contract and contingency is $3.0537 million, with Cedar Hills Construction responsible for construction. The project plans to replace approximately 993.95 meters of water mains and 367.59 meters of wastewater lines, totaling about 1.36 kilometers, with construction scheduled to begin in October 2026 and an expected duration of 18 months.

This pipeline renovation involves roads in the Parker Lane neighborhood including Granada Drive, Catalina Drive, Metcalfe Drive, and Bahia Circle. The project mainly replaces aging and damaged water mains and wastewater lines, while also upgrading residential service connections, associated fittings, and wastewater manholes. Construction will use open-cut excavation to install underground pipelines, and affected road surfaces will be restored after pipeline renewal is completed.

The Austin City Council approved the project construction contract on July 23, with Cedar Hills Construction undertaking the construction task. The construction contract amount is $2.7761 million, with an additional $277,600 contingency, for a total contract amount not exceeding $3.0537 million. Project funding comes from the Austin Water capital budget, the procurement number is IFB 6100 CLMC1143, and the construction contract number is CA260000038.

The project solicitation was launched on March 2, 2026, with bids due on April 9. Under the municipal procurement arrangement, the work covers removal and renewal of existing pipelines, service connection construction, traffic management, and pavement restoration. The city government has also included special allowances in the construction contract for handling non-compliant existing pipelines encountered on site and for traffic safety management during construction.

The project is part of the City of Austin's "Renewing Austin" aging water and sewer infrastructure renewal program. Austin Water plans to carry out road excavation, underground pipeline installation, and restoration work in segments during construction, with the municipal engineering management department coordinating the contractor and nearby residents. The October 22 resident meeting focused on the contractor introduction and subsequent construction arrangements.
