Tender Launched for 20 km Airport Drainage Network Project in Dubai, UAE
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, Dubai Municipality of the UAE launched a tender for the rainwater drainage network project from Al Maktoum International Airport to Dubai South, inviting contractors to participate in the construction of approximately 20 km of underground drainage pipelines and supporting facilities, with a bid submission deadline of November 5. The project number is TF-06-C2, with pipe diameters ranging from 400 to 3,000 mm. Construction will combine deep trenchless methods with traditional open-cut methods, and the project is incorporated into Dubai's AED 30 billion rainwater drainage system expansion plan.
The project is part of the DS306 rainwater drainage system construction works for Jebel Ali and development areas, with service coverage extending to Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai South, and Dubai Industrial City. Construction scope includes new underground rainwater main pipelines, underground drainage branch lines, inspection chambers, rainwater collection inlets, drop structures, and vortex shafts, as well as connections to the existing drainage network. Upon completion, the network will connect to the regional drainage system and undertake the task of collecting and conveying rainwater in the airport surroundings and adjacent development zones.
Dubai Municipality is concurrently advancing the construction of rainwater storage facilities in the same area. The works numbered TF-06-C1 are responsible for constructing the rainwater storage pond connecting Al Maktoum International Airport and Dubai South, while TF-06-C2 covers the supporting pipeline network. Both construction packages are included in Package 4 of the rainwater drainage works supervision contract, for which the supervision tender was issued on October 6 with a bid submission deadline of October 29.
Package 4 of the supervision contract also covers the construction of drainage pipelines along Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Road and the connection works between development plots in the Dubai Parks and Resorts area and the existing rainwater network. Dubai Municipality will organize construction procurement for the four works separately and implement project supervision through the same supervision services contract. The tender for the airport-to-Dubai South drainage pipeline construction was officially issued on October 16.
The above works are part of the Tasreef rainwater drainage program implemented by Dubai Municipality, with a total planned investment of AED 30 billion, covering urban drainage network expansion, rainwater storage, and regional discharge facility construction. Under this program, Dubai's rainwater drainage capacity will increase by 700% by 2033, and the related infrastructure is planned to meet the city's drainage needs for the next 100 years.
