en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 21, the Yuma City Council in Arizona, USA, will place the Agua Viva Water Treatment Plant reservoir rehabilitation project contract on its agenda for consideration, proposing to award it to California contractor Paso Robles Tank for $2.95614 million. The project mainly involves rehabilitating Reservoir No. 1 at the plant, which has been in service for approximately 20 years, covering internal steel structures, roof plates, and support components. Construction was originally scheduled to begin on December 7, 2026, and be completed on September 4, 2027. Funding will be arranged through Yuma's dedicated water supply funds and the 2025 Capital Improvement Bonds.

According to project documents submitted by the city government, the most recent drain inspection of Reservoir No. 1 found aging and damage to the internal rafters, main beams, roof plates, and roof structure. The rehabilitation project primarily targets the reservoir's internal steel structures and anti-corrosion coatings, restoring the long-term service conditions of the water storage facility through structural repairs and recoating.

The project procurement number is Engineering-RFB-27-011, and two contractors submitted bids. Paso Robles Tank bid $2.95614 million, while TMI Coatings bid $3.955875 million, with the former approximately $999,700 lower. The city's procurement department recommends awarding the construction contract to Paso Robles Tank, which submitted the lower bid and meets the tender requirements.

The Capital Improvement Program approved by Yuma for Fiscal Year 2027 allocates a budget of $4.16 million for this project, and the proposed contract amount is approximately $1.2039 million below budget. All funding required for the contract comes from municipal water utility funds; the project approval documents do not include state government, federal government, or other external funding.

According to the construction schedule submitted to the City Council, on-site construction is planned to begin in early December 2026 and end in early September 2027. The existing procurement documents confirm only the construction contract award recommendation and the planned schedule; they cannot be used to conclude that the contractor has already mobilized or that reservoir rehabilitation work has begun.
