Maha Metro Completes 100 Spans of Elevated Viaduct in Nagpur Metro Phase II

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maha Metro has completed the erection of 100 spans of the segmental precast elevated viaduct in Reach-4A of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase II. This section connects Prajapati Nagar/H.B. Town with Transport Nagar and is a key component of the Nagpur Metro Phase II network.

The Reach-4A corridor spans 5.33 km and features three elevated stations: Pardi, Kapsi Khurd, and Transport Nagar. One of the major engineering highlights is an approximately 2 km-long double-decker elevated section along the Nagpur–Bhandara route, crossing the Pardi Flyover on National Highway-53.

Initially, the "Shivalik" launching girder was used for viaduct erection. To accelerate progress, Maha Metro deployed two additional launching girders—"Shikhar" and "Giri"—in November and December 2025, respectively. With all three machines in operation, 100 spans were completed within 10 months. The final segment of the 100th span was erected in the presence of officials including Shri Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Maha Metro, and Shri Rajiv Tyagi, Project Director. A total of 182 spans are planned for the Reach-4A section.

Construction progress data shows that all 571 pile foundations have been completed; 112 out of 123 pile caps are done; 175 out of 194 piers are completed; 133 out of 194 pier caps are finished; 1,309 out of 1,844 segments have been cast; and 100 out of 182 spans have been erected.

Station works are progressing in parallel along the corridor. Foundation works at Transport Nagar and Kapsi Khurd stations have been fully completed, with overall station building construction progress at 40%.

According to Maha Metro's schedule, all viaducts in Reach-4A will be completed by June 2027, with station works finishing by August 2027. Each of the three launching girders has its own completion milestone: Giri by September 2026, Shivalik by February 2027, and Shikhar by June 2027.

In November 2024, M/s Kalpataru Projects International Limited was awarded the design and construction contract for this 5.33 km viaduct. Maha Metro subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite project execution.
