en.Wedoany.com Reported - Prior Scientific has launched the compact single-axis stepper motor controller ES12ZETTL, designed to simplify control of motorized focus axes, filter wheels, filter turrets, objective nosepieces, and other single-axis devices. The controller integrates high-resolution motion performance, plug-and-play device sensing, encoder support, and extensive transistor-transistor logic input/output (TTL I/O) into a cost-effective positioning solution tailored for OEM integration, automated microscopy, and precision inspection systems.

As the successor to Prior's popular ES10ZE focus controller, the ES12ZETTL significantly outperforms its predecessor. While the ES10ZE can only drive linear focus motors, the ES12ZETTL is compatible with both linear and rotary devices, such as the Prior HF108B filter wheel. The controller provides separate operating modes for each device type, enabling support for a wider range of Prior single-axis devices than any previous Prior controller—a particularly valuable feature for customers looking to integrate a single Prior device into their own systems.

In terms of reliability, the ES12ZETTL features built-in linear and rotary encoder support, achieving high positioning accuracy, excellent repeatability, and error correction through closed-loop operation. It interfaces with other devices at both software and hardware levels via USB ports, and can also interact with other controllers through PC connections or direct TTL links. The 10 TTL inputs and 5 TTL outputs enable precise timing and synchronization of multiple focus or rotary devices, making it suitable for complex automated processes.

In terms of structural design, the controller is available in a standard desktop model as well as an OEM enclosure version, facilitating integration into automated imaging instruments. Unlike the ES10ZE, the ES12ZETTL does not incorporate human-machine interface functions directly on the controller, instead consolidating them into the optional CS200Z joystick. The open SDK/DLL makes it straightforward to add Prior devices to OEM instruments and control them via the ES12ZETTL.

Regarding connectivity and upgrades, the ES12ZETTL uses a USB-C 2.0 interface and compact TTL I/O for fast, reliable connections; the firmware update tool is also easy to operate. As a next-generation OptiScan controller, it shares more in common with Prior's ProScan III technology: it offers 1/250 microstep resolution and higher drive current, allowing Prior's latest devices to perform at their full potential, while pricing remains at the OptiScan controller level. For Prior devices such as the HF108B filter wheel and FB210 focus motor, the ES12ZETTL provides plug-and-play sensing for quick installation and use in upgrading existing systems.

Beyond OEM system development, typical applications for this controller include fluorescence microscopy, metrology, confocal and super-resolution microscopy, and industrial inspection. From automated Z-axis stacking to fast TTL-triggered filter switching, the ES12ZETTL paired with the appropriate Prior device delivers benefits across microscopy systems ranging from the simplest to the highly complex. The controller is also compatible with third-party software and stepper motor devices.
