Verde Partners With Highway International To Validate Biochar-Enhanced Asphalt In Singapore - Carbon Herald

The MOU was signed between Highway and Verde's wholly-owned Singapore subsidiary, Verde Resources Asia Pacific Private Limited. Under the plan, the two companies will launch pilot projects this year to evaluate material performance, production readiness, pavement mix design, and testing procedures, while also conducting carbon dioxide accounting and research into broader commercial applications. Upon successful completion and approval of the pilot projects, the parties will enter into a definitive agreement under which Highway will become the licensed holder of the Net Zero Blueprint platform in Singapore, promoting its application in carbon dioxide-sequestering roads, airport pavements, and other infrastructure.

The parties will jointly review Verde's Net Zero Blueprint platform. This platform integrates Verde's cold-mix biochar asphalt technology and TerraZyme® enzyme-based soil stabilization innovations, aiming to support the development of high-performance roads, runways, and other infrastructure that can sequester carbon dioxide and generate verifiable carbon removal credits through proprietary engineered biochar and advanced asphalt and pavement technologies, coupled with carbon credit accounting tools. The platform also provides life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental product declarations (EPD), carbon accounting, and digital project data tracking, offering users a comprehensive framework for developing, measuring, and validating low-carbon infrastructure solutions.

Eric Bava, Chief Operating Officer of Verde Resources, stated that this collaboration combines Highway's track record and expertise in advanced pavement and infrastructure applications with Verde's carbon platform and validated technologies, with the shared goal of positioning Singapore as a leader in sustainable, high-performance, carbon-sequestering infrastructure. Highway's management stated that the MOU aligns with its vision to demonstrate how Singapore's roads and infrastructure can transcend traditional functions and become part of the solution to global warming, transforming existing infrastructure into long-term carbon sinks.
