At an altitude of 4,700 meters! The largest photovoltaic project in the middle and lower reaches of the Yajiang River in Tibet has been completed
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the first phase of the 850 MW photovoltaic project in Luobusha, Qusum County, Tibet, undertaken by PowerChina, successfully passed the completion acceptance, providing important support for alleviating the regional power supply-demand tension and strengthening the plateau energy supply guarantee.

The Luobusha photovoltaic project in Qusum County, Tibet, covers an area of approximately 4,289.59 mu, with a total installed capacity of 850 MW. It is one of the first batch of key commercial photovoltaic projects in the Yazhong Clean Energy Base in Tibet and the largest photovoltaic clean power generation project in the middle and lower reaches of the Yajiang River. The project is being developed and constructed in four phases. The first phase has a capacity of 200 MW at an average altitude of 4,700 meters. PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited undertook the construction of the 220 kV booster station, the 50 MW photovoltaic area, the 20.74 km transmission line, and the expansion of the opposite-side substation, while Sinohydro Bureau 9 Co., Ltd. undertook the construction of the 150 MW photovoltaic field area, installing a total of 348,000 photovoltaic modules, supported by 64 box-type transformers and 704 inverters.

Facing multiple challenges such as high altitude, large temperature differences, large-scale construction management and control, and difficulties in resource coordination, the project team independently built a digital management and control platform based on low-code technology, establishing an integrated management system of "safety-design-construction-operation and maintenance." The platform integrates fourteen core functional modules, achieving modern management goals including visualized construction progress, transparent fund usage, dynamic material control, and intelligent safety warning. The project innovatively launched a drone sky-eye system, conducting regular intelligent inspection and identification, uploading operation data in real time, and dynamically updating construction ledgers, effectively improving construction precision and efficiency. With its excellent refined management level and engineering construction quality, the project demonstrates PowerChina's construction strength in the ultra-high-altitude clean energy field and consolidates its brand advantage in Tibet.

After completion, the first phase of the Luobusha project will provide 374 million kWh of electricity annually, save 24,600 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 68,500 tons, achieving a win-win outcome for both economic and environmental benefits. From the 4,700-meter-high plateau to the lights of countless households, PowerChina builders are transforming plateau sunlight into clean green electricity through practical efforts, continuously contributing to the green transformation of the plateau's energy structure and serving the national "dual carbon" goals.
