Vietjet and CFM International Sign Letter of Intent to Explore Leap Engine MRO in Vietnam

en.Wedoany.com Reported - VietJet Air has signed a letter of intent with CFM International to explore the feasibility of developing its own MRO and maintenance capabilities for Leap engines in Vietnam.

Under the agreement, CFM International will propose a consultancy agreement to provide advisory services to VietJet Air, assessing engine MRO demand, capabilities, infrastructure, workforce, and other industry considerations related to potential local maintenance solutions in Vietnam.

Nguyen Thanh Son, CEO of VietJet Air, said that for the aviation industry to be strong, it needs not only a modern fleet and an extensive route network but also deep technical expertise and highly skilled talent; the cooperation with CFM International is an important part of VietJet Air's efforts to build a more complete aviation ecosystem in Vietnam. He added that he hopes this initiative will lay the foundation for maintenance capabilities for the latest-generation engines, cultivate world-class engineering talent, and enable Vietnam to play a greater role in the global aviation value chain.

VietJet Air is expected to become one of the largest operators of Leap engines in Southeast Asia. VietJet Group currently holds an order for 200 Boeing 737-8 aircraft powered by Leap engines, and Thai VietJet also belongs to the group. The group's Airbus A320neo fleet is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines.
