Iberia of Spain Obtains Full AESA Authorization for A350 Maintenance in 2026
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Iberia's Maintenance division has received approval from the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) to perform heavy maintenance on its entire Airbus A350 fleet without any restrictions. On September 11, 2026, AESA granted this authorization without any limitations for the first time, giving Iberia full maintenance capability for the A350.

This achievement is the result of two years of work, during which Iberia carried out more than 150 action measures across multiple areas including training, engineering, production, materials, production equipment, infrastructure, documentation, organization, quality, and IT systems.
Enrique Robledo, Director of Iberia Maintenance, stated that this milestone marks the successful completion of a project launched at the end of 2024, giving the company full maintenance capability for this aircraft type. This approval demonstrates that the Maintenance division possesses the necessary processes, equipment, documentation, organizational structure, and qualified professionals to carry out A350 maintenance work at the highest level of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Obtaining unrestricted authorization from day one also confirms the regulator's trust in Iberia. Iberia Maintenance stated that this is a strategic achievement that further consolidates the company's position in the industry and opens up new opportunities for the future growth and development of its maintenance business.
Iberia Maintenance has nearly a century of experience, more than 3,000 employees, and serves over 120 customers. Within its 222,000-square-meter facilities, the company completes more than 120 base maintenance checks and 200 engine overhauls annually, and certifies more than 30,000 components.
