India Launches INR 36.1 Billion Delhi–Ambala Railway EPC Tender
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Northern Railway of India has launched an EPC tender for the third and fourth railway lines from Delhi Subzimandi to Ambala Cantonment station, with a tender value of INR 36.1257 billion. The project will construct two new lines alongside the existing electrified broad-gauge double-track railway, spanning the Delhi and Ambala railway divisions of Northern Railway, with a bid submission deadline of February 1, 2027.
The scope of this EPC contract simultaneously covers civil works, track works, signaling and telecommunication systems, overhead equipment power supply, general electrical works, and related ancillary facilities, and is not a single track construction package. The tender number is 74-W-4-1-488-WA-TKJ, the procurement method is open tender, and a bid security of approximately INR 7.225142 billion is required.
The overall Delhi–Ambala third and fourth line capacity expansion project was approved by the Central Government of India on February 14, 2026, with a sanctioned investment of INR 59.83 billion. The Haryana state budget document for fiscal year 2026–2027 shows that upon completion, the project is planned to have the transport capacity to add 36 passenger trains and 40 freight trains. This INR 36.1257 billion tender corresponds to the railway construction EPC contract within that project, and is not the entire INR 59.83 billion project investment.
The line length is approximately 194 kilometers, running north from Delhi Subzimandi to Ambala Cantonment station, with the existing railway along the route currently forming an electrified double-track corridor. Northern Railway's official line data lists Delhi–Panipat–Ambala Cantonment station within the scope of lines permitted for high-axle-load train operations, and this project adds third and fourth lines on the basis of the existing railway.
Under this EPC procurement boundary, the successful contractor will simultaneously undertake design, procurement, and construction tasks, with civil works, track, signaling and telecommunication, traction power supply, and general electrical systems all included in the contract scope. The tender documents currently correspond to the bid submission deadline of February 1, 2027, and bidding enterprises need to verify the final technical, commercial, and schedule requirements in accordance with subsequent addendum documents.
