en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 14, MacGregor announced that it had secured orders for deck machinery and research equipment for 4 newbuild ocean research vessels. Two of the vessels are being built by GONDAN Shipbuilders of Spain for the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, while the other two are being built by Titagarh Naval Systems of India for the Geological Survey of India. The relevant orders have been booked into MacGregor's order intake for the second and third quarters of 2026 respectively, with equipment deliveries commencing in 2027 and all scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2029 at the latest.

The scope of supply for the four vessels includes CTD single-wire winches, steel wire winches, oceanographic survey winches, coring winches, survey boat davits, CTD hangar frames, deck cranes, stern A-frames, ROV telescopic booms, and coring handling systems equipped with coring cradles, forming a deck operation equipment package spanning water column sampling, seabed coring, and underwater robot launch and recovery.

Among them, the two German research vessels are being built by GONDAN Shipbuilders, with the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency as the end user. MacGregor will continue to work with the shipyard during the vessel design and construction phases to complete equipment interfaces, arrangements, and system integration. The German owner has opted for a unified supply system for scientific winches and deck machinery in order to maintain consistent operating interfaces across different research equipment.

The other two vessels are being built by Titagarh Naval Systems of India and will ultimately be delivered to the Geological Survey of India. The coring systems, oceanographic survey winches, A-frames, and ROV equipment configured for these vessels are primarily intended for marine geological surveys, sample acquisition, and underwater equipment launch and recovery operations. MacGregor's contract scope extends directly to multiple types of scientific operation equipment, rather than just ordinary ship cranes.

The equipment delivery period spans from 2027 to the third quarter of 2029, meaning that the equipment for the four vessels will be produced and delivered in batches according to their respective construction schedules. This announcement did not disclose the specific contract values of the four orders, the quantity of equipment per vessel, or the specific delivery months corresponding to each vessel.
