Contract Signed for Al Mahout Fishing Port in Oman, Contract Value Approximately OMR 37 Million

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman signed a contract with Arabian Contracting Company for the construction of Al Mahout Fishing Port. The project is located in Al Mahout Wilayat, Al Wusta Governorate. The award had previously been approved by Oman's Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority, with a contract value of approximately OMR 36.995 million.

The marine works portion of the project includes the construction of two breakwaters with a total length of approximately 3.02 kilometers; reclamation of approximately 1.2 million cubic meters of water area for land formation, and approximately 50,000 cubic meters of dredging works; as well as the construction of fixed quays, floating concrete pontoons, navigational aids and beacon systems. Official Omani reports also disclosed that the harbor basin dredging covers an area of approximately 688,100 square meters, with a target water depth of up to approximately 4 meters.

The landside works include approximately 4.5 kilometers of roads and parking facilities, as well as the construction of water supply, power supply, sewage, lighting and firefighting systems. Arabian Contracting disclosed that the supporting facilities also include a two-story control building, a security building, two ice plants, a two-story fish market, a service building, a maintenance building, prayer facilities and 5 fishermen's shops. The building portion also covers civil works, mechanical and electrical works, air conditioning, firefighting and lighting works.

The port area will also include fixed berths and floating berth facilities. Omani authorities disclosed that the fixed berths have a total length of approximately 650 meters, with an additional 3 pontoons with a total length of approximately 90 meters, and a slipway approximately 68 meters long. After the project is put into operation, it will be used for fishing vessel berthing, catch unloading, trading, ice production and vessel repair operations.

The tender number for this project is 62/2023/GSTB. Oman's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources launched the public tender in September 2023, completed the opening of price bids in March 2024, and formally approved the construction award in July 2026. After the construction contract was signed in September, Arabian Contracting became the project implementation party.
