en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, the Port Authority of Algeciras Bay launched a tender for the renewal of berth and fender facilities at Phase B of the Isla Verde Exterior terminal, with an estimated contract value of €2.3802 million (excluding VAT), a tender budget of €2.88 million including tax, and a construction period of 12 months. The project adopts open tender procedures, with a bid submission deadline of 14:00 on October 8, 2026, and the contract type is port hydraulic engineering works.
The works are located at the end of Phase B of the Isla Verde Exterior East Dock, with the construction scope concentrated between mooring bollards No. 26 and No. 60. The port authority inspected 28 sets of fender facilities in this area, of which 26 have shown obvious aging and have reached or exceeded their service life, while the other 2 were recently installed and are in good condition; the project will replace the existing aged fenders, and the load-bearing capacity of the new equipment shall not be lower than the existing configuration and must match the current berthing conditions of vessels at the dock.
A total of 41 mooring bollards were also inspected in this area, of which 9 need to be replaced due to damage, and the remaining 32 will continue to be used and will undergo cleaning, repair, and surface anti-corrosion treatment. The design load-bearing capacity of the new mooring bollards is up to 150 tons. The project also includes the replacement of 2 gangways in poor condition, with the new gangways made of AISI 316 stainless steel suitable for the marine environment.
The scope of dock structure repair also includes approximately 165 meters of quay edge repair to address material spalling, cracks, and other damage; at the same time, 5 damaged inspection manhole covers will be renewed, and the peripheral structures will be repaired according to on-site conditions. The project documents also require anti-corrosion treatment of retained components to adapt to the long-term seawater and salt spray environment.
This tender continues the berth facility renewal work implemented in 2025 at Phase A of Isla Verde Exterior. The previous inspection and renovation were related to the condition of existing facilities and the increasing size of berthing vessels, after which the port authority further inspected the Phase B facilities and formed this works package. The Isla Verde Exterior East Dock has a total length of approximately 1,436 meters and a water depth of approximately 18.5 meters, and is mainly used for container operations.
The tender number is 2026-073, electronic bidding is adopted, and the project does not use EU funds. The CPV codes corresponding to the procurement documents include 45244100 "Seaport facilities" and 34516000 "Marine fenders." The project is currently in the tender stage, the construction contractor has not yet been determined, and formal construction will be implemented after completion of bid evaluation and contract award.
