PowerChina Signs Contract for Bogotá Stadium Project in Colombia with 50,000 Capacity

PowerChina will undertake the design, equipment supply, construction and installation, and commissioning and acceptance of a modern stadium with a capacity of 50,000 people, a parking building, and related municipal works. The project is located in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia.

The Campín Stadium is the renovation project of the Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín in Bogotá. The project is being advanced by Sencia under a public-private partnership model, with Sencia responsible for the construction, operation, and management of the relevant concession project. Following the signing of this commercial contract, PowerChina has entered the implementation phase of the new stadium's main works and supporting facilities.

The new stadium is planned to have a capacity of more than 50,000 people, and will feature a hybrid turf and a retractable roof, and will be built to meet the needs of major sporting events, performances, and cultural activities. In addition to the stadium itself, the entire El Campín comprehensive development project also plans multiple functional components including a concert hall, commercial and dining facilities, a hotel, sports medical facilities, parking facilities, and public spaces. The scope disclosed in PowerChina's contract this time mainly includes the stadium, parking building, and municipal planning works; other commercial and public supporting facilities are not included in the scope of work announced by PowerChina for this contract.

Sencia launched on-site construction of the new stadium in March this year. The project adopts an arrangement in which the old and new stadiums operate in parallel; during the construction of the new stadium, the existing El Campín Stadium will continue to host football matches and large-scale events. The latest construction plan published by Sencia shows that the new stadium is scheduled to be completed in December 2027, while other supporting facilities of the entire complex will continue to advance according to each functional unit.

The project adopts a PPP model with private capital participation. Sencia previously signed a concession contract with Bogotá's sports and entertainment management agency, with a concession period of approximately 29.2 years, including the early construction, operation and maintenance, and final handover stages. The total investment scale of the entire El Campín sports and cultural complex previously announced by Sencia is approximately 2.4 trillion Colombian pesos. The specific amount of PowerChina's commercial contract this time has not yet been disclosed.

According to the project scope disclosed by PowerChina, the Campín Stadium is currently the largest sports facility project undertaken by PowerChina in the Americas region. This contract clarifies PowerChina's project implementation scope in the main stadium, parking facilities, and municipal works, and subsequent construction will be advanced in coordination with Sencia and local government departments' project plans.
