CNMC DRC's Two Community Medical Centers Completed and Handed Over

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Two community medical centers in Kibemla and Masompo, funded by Deziwa Mining Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metal Mining Group (CNMC) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), have been completed and officially handed over. The two medical centers are located on the north and south banks of a harbor on the Lualaba River, respectively, and mainly provide primary medical services to communities around the Deziwa mining area.

Both medical centers are equipped with basic diagnostic and treatment equipment and medicines, covering Kibemla, Masompo and surrounding communities, and are expected to provide nearby medical services to nearly 50,000 local residents. This construction places medical service facilities directly in communities around the mining area, reducing the need for local residents to travel across regions for medical care.

CNMC Deziwa has long implemented community infrastructure projects around the mining area. In 2018, the company built two water wells in Masompo Village, solving the domestic water problem for about 2,550 local residents, and advanced infrastructure construction such as village roads. This medical center project continues to cover the Masompo community and adds medical facilities for the Kibemla community.

Deziwa Mining operates the Deziwa copper-cobalt mine project in the DRC, which produced its first batch of cathode copper in 2019. The two medical centers handed over this time are public service facilities for communities around the mining area and are built separately from the mine's production facilities and employee medical facilities.
