Bahrain's 14.5 Million Dinar Al Hunainiyah Water Supply Station Scheduled to Be Commissioned in 2027

en.Wedoany.com Reported - September 25 news: The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) of Bahrain is advancing the construction of the Al Hunainiyah Water Supply Station in Riffa, with a project investment of approximately 14.5 million Bahraini dinars, and is scheduled to complete construction and put it into operation in December 2027. Once completed, the project will supplement the water supply capacity of the Southern Governorate and primarily serve East Riffa and surrounding areas.

The project will build a ground storage tank with a capacity of 10 million imperial gallons and reserve space for the construction of a second storage tank of the same scale; it will also be equipped with an elevated tank with a capacity of 1.25 million imperial gallons to supply water to the East Riffa area. The station will also deploy remote monitoring and control systems to centrally manage the operating status, flow, and scheduling of water supply equipment.

The Electricity and Water Authority of Bahrain has included the Al Hunainiyah and South Saar water supply stations in its current water infrastructure construction plan. According to EWA's official project documents, both projects include pumping stations, ground water storage facilities, and elevated tanks. The overall projects are being advanced by EWA and have received financing support from the Islamic Development Bank. The total budget for the related projects of the two water supply stations is approximately 30 million Bahraini dinars, and construction began in June 2025.

During the latest on-site inspection, Bahrain's Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan and Southern Governorate Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa received reports on the completed works and remaining construction plans of the project. Construction is currently still being advanced around water storage facilities, station equipment, and subsequent automation system construction, and the project commissioning milestone remains maintained at December 2027.
