Casale Awarded EPF Contract for 100 t/d Green Ammonia Plant in Norway

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Casale announced the signing of a contract with Neptun Glomfjord Green Ammonia AS to supply a 100 t/d modular green ammonia plant for its green ammonia project at the Glomfjord Industrial Park in Norway. The project will be executed under an Engineering, Procurement and Fabrication (EPF) model, with Casale responsible for engineering design, equipment procurement and module fabrication, and providing its proprietary SMART-N green ammonia technology.

The plant is designed on a modular basis, with most equipment and piping to be prefabricated at the fabrication yard and then transported to the Glomfjord site for assembly. By increasing the proportion of off-site fabrication, the project reduces on-site installation work and lowers the complexity of construction organization and installation for small-scale green ammonia projects.

The plant has a rated capacity of 100 t/d, equivalent to approximately 36,500 t/y. The SMART-N process is designed for small-scale renewable ammonia production, and the synthesis system can operate within a range of 10% to 100% of rated load to accommodate fluctuations in renewable electricity prices and green hydrogen supply. According to the project implementation plan, the green hydrogen system will be commissioned in phases; after startup, the ammonia synthesis system is planned to initially operate at approximately 50% load, then gradually ramp up as green hydrogen supply capacity increases.

The project is located at the Glomfjord Industrial Park and will utilize local renewable electricity resources and existing industrial infrastructure to produce green ammonia. The green ammonia produced will subsequently be further processed by third parties into nitric acid, ammonium nitrate sulfate (ANS) and fertilizer products, forming a production chain from renewable hydrogen and green ammonia to downstream nitrogen-containing chemical products.
