en.Wedoany.com Reported - Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) announced that it has completed the third large-scale fertilizer production line for Indorama Fertilizer FZE in Rivers State, Nigeria. The project was awarded in 2023 and was actually completed in June 2026, with construction located adjacent to Indorama's existing fertilizer production facilities. The new line is equipped with a 2,300 t/d ammonia unit and a 4,000 t/d urea unit, along with supporting utility facilities, among which the urea unit ranks among the world's largest single-train urea production facilities.

The third production line continues to adopt the technology system used in Indorama's previous two phases. The ammonia unit uses technology licensed from Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) of the United States, while the urea unit uses TOYO's independently developed ACES21 urea synthesis technology. TOYO is responsible for urea technology licensing and basic design, and also undertakes detailed design, procurement, construction support, and commissioning support for the entire fertilizer project, including the ammonia unit and utilities. Most of the engineering design and procurement work was carried out with the participation of Toyo Engineering India.

Indorama has formed a continuously expanded urea production base in the Eleme area of Rivers State. TOYO previously completed the first and second fertilizer production lines at the base in 2017 and 2021 respectively, both of which are configured with a capacity of 2,300 t/d ammonia and 4,000 t/d urea. With the third production line coming into operation, the project's overall urea capacity will increase from approximately 2.8 million tons per year to 4.2 million tons per year. Indorama's public information shows that the original base is also equipped with natural gas supply pipelines, port terminals, product storage and transportation, and utility systems.

The construction scope of the third production line further extends to steam systems, cooling towers, water treatment, product handling, power, nitrogen, instrument air, firefighting, as well as product storage and material handling facilities. Project information shows that after the expansion of the new line, approximately 400 tons per day of surplus ammonia capacity is also expected to be created, and the planned Line 3 Jetty dedicated terminal will serve fertilizer and ammonia export.
