Alight Acquires 2GW Solar and Energy Storage Project Pipeline in Sweden
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Swedish independent power producer Alight has completed the acquisition of 40 large-scale photovoltaic projects from Soltech Energy Solutions, distributed across the SE3 and SE4 electricity price areas in southern Sweden, with a planned total PV capacity of approximately 2GW. Most projects have reserved conditions for co-located battery energy storage, and the transaction has been approved by the Swedish Agency for Strategic Products.
Soltech Energy Solutions has completed the preliminary development work for the relevant projects, including land screening, land leasing, environmental permitting, and engineering design. Among them, projects exceeding 700MWp have obtained the necessary regulatory approvals. Following the completion of the transaction, Alight will be responsible for subsequent permitting, grid connection applications, and project development, and will advance each project to a construction-ready state.
Soltech disclosed that the guaranteed purchase price for this transaction is SEK 14 million, of which SEK 8 million was paid upon signing of the agreement, with the remaining amount scheduled for payment between 2027 and 2028. Soltech may subsequently receive additional consideration based on project development progress, with the specific amount depending on the future advancement of each project.
Once projects enter the investment decision and construction phase, Alight plans to be responsible for the investment, construction, ownership, and operation of the PV plants, and to sell electricity to commercial and industrial customers through long-term power purchase agreements. Soltech Energy Solutions may still participate in consulting, engineering design, EPC, and long-term O&M work under subsequent project arrangements.
Following the completion of this acquisition, Alight's solar and energy storage development project pipeline in the Nordic region has increased to more than 5GW. The company has previously collaborated with Soltech on project transactions, having acquired the 11MWp Ramsjöholm solar project in Sweden from Soltech in 2024.
