en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 5, Emirates Global Aluminium announced that under a renewed long-term supply agreement with Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée, the first shipment of approximately 66,000 tonnes of bauxite had been loaded at the Port of Kamsar in Guinea for delivery to the UAE. The new agreement provides that CBG may supply up to 4.9 million tonnes of bauxite per year to EGA, with the supply term extending through 2044. The first cargo was loaded onto a Panamax bulk carrier in late August and was still in transit at the time of the announcement.

The resumption of supply stems from a dispute settlement reached among EGA, its subsidiary Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC), and the Guinean government. The three parties signed an agreement in May 2026 to resolve disputes arising from the cessation of GAC's operations in Guinea and the disruption of EGA's bauxite supply. The settlement was reached through a formal mediation process chaired by the President of the Paris Bar Association and was completed in late August after the parties fulfilled the agreed conditions precedent.

The settlement arrangement also involves the transfer of GAC's former mining assets and related rights. Under the agreement, the Guinean government paid GAC a one-time sum, and the relevant assets were transferred to Nimba Mining Company for the development of the Sangarédi bauxite project. EGA and CBG, in turn, re-established their long-term bauxite purchase and sale relationship.

CBG is responsible for supplying bauxite under the restored supply agreement, while EGA, as the long-term buyer, receives the raw material and uses it for its alumina production operations.
