en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 7, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registered the first building of the Project Longhorn data center, with a reported construction cost of $366 million and a building area of approximately 46,300 square meters. The project is located in the Cedar Creek area of Bastrop County, Texas, and is scheduled to commence on November 30, 2026, and be completed on January 31, 2028. Gensler is responsible for architectural design, and the project is currently at the state-level engineering registration stage.

According to the registration documents published by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the project number is TABS2027002962, and the construction site is located near Earl Callahan Road and Walter Hoffman Road. The first building is planned as a single-story prefabricated engineered metal building, using the U.S. Type II-B building construction standard, with a total building area of 498,165 square feet. The building uses include data center, office areas, and ancillary assembly space.

The scope of the project application includes site civil works, main structure, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, water supply and drainage, and fire protection facilities. The registration documents list the main building use as S-1, and include B office use and A-2 ancillary space. The related mechanical, electrical, and fire protection works are included in the construction scope of this first building. The specific number of servers, rack configuration, IT load capacity, and technical parameters of power supply and distribution equipment have not yet been listed.

The project adopts a model of construction on private land with private funds. The state-level registration documents specify that the construction funds are not provided by tenants, and no formal tenant has yet been registered for the project. The Gensler Dallas office is listed as the design firm. The general contractor, equipment suppliers, and related construction contract amounts have not yet been announced.

Local public reports link Project Longhorn with data centers and supporting natural gas power generation facilities currently being planned in the Cedar Creek area. The related development plan involves BlackChamber and Pacifico Energy, with the former participating in data center development and the latter involved in energy infrastructure construction.
