en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, U.S. networking equipment company TP-Link Systems announced that it has signed a letter of intent with electronics manufacturing services provider Key Tronic to assemble next-generation wireless routers in Corinth, Mississippi, USA. Under the arrangement, Key Tronic is expected to become TP-Link's primary manufacturing partner in the United States, utilizing its existing factory in Corinth to handle network equipment assembly. The two parties plan to begin domestic assembly of Wi-Fi 8 home networking equipment as early as 2027, subject to U.S. regulatory approval.

TP-Link and Key Tronic sign letter of intent for router contract manufacturing cooperation

Key Tronic provides electronic product design support, component procurement, production assembly, in-factory testing, and supply chain management services, with manufacturing facilities in the United States, Mexico, and Vietnam. This cooperation is intended to apply its existing electronics manufacturing capabilities to the production of TP-Link's next-generation network equipment, with the first planned products including Wi-Fi 8 wireless routers.

TP-Link previously submitted materials to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission proposing a U.S. manufacturing investment plan of nearly USD 1 billion, covering equipment configuration for existing factories and subsequent construction of highly automated manufacturing facilities. The company plans to have its U.S. engineering team handle the development and storage of related product software and firmware, and to include U.S. assembly of next-generation routers in this investment plan.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission published new market access restrictions on foreign-manufactured consumer routers on March 23, 2026, requiring relevant new models to obtain conditional approval in accordance with regulations. TP-Link has already submitted related applications for two Wi-Fi 8 router models. The letter of intent signed with Key Tronic is independent of the related approval applications, and the specific timing for starting product assembly depends on the progress of regulatory approval.
