Teledyne and Omnetics Jointly Release 67 GHz RF Interconnect System
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 15, Storm Microwave, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies of the United States, and connector manufacturer Omnetics Connector Corporation jointly launched the MultiFlex Micro-D high-density RF interconnect system. The new product uses VITA 67.3 NanoRF standard-compatible contacts, combines Storm Flex series flexible RF cables with a Micro-D micro connector structure, supports operating frequencies up to 67 GHz, and can be configured with 4, 6, or 8 RF channels, targeting radar, electronic warfare, unmanned systems, satellite, and aerospace electronic equipment.

The MultiFlex Micro-D adopts Omnetics' rugged Micro-D connector architecture, integrating high-frequency RF contacts inside a compact connector. Its RF transmission section is based on Teledyne's Storm Flex 034 and Storm Flex 047 series cable technology, and together with NanoRF-compatible contacts forms a multi-channel interconnect assembly. Configurations using Storm Flex cables can achieve high-frequency connections up to 67 GHz, and the product can be combined according to the equipment's internal space and signal channel requirements.
The system provides cable assembly connections between Micro-D connectors, as well as connection configurations from Micro-D connectors to separate RF interfaces. Users can choose a pure RF version or a hybrid version that integrates both RF channels and control wires within the same connector. The interfaces are compatible with SMP, SMPM, SMA, and 2.9 mm, 2.4 mm, and 1.85 mm coaxial connectors, allowing connection to equipment using different RF ports.
The product features a low-profile Micro-D form factor, in which a 1.2-inch (approximately 30.5 mm) wide connector housing can accommodate up to 4 RF channels. The overall product series also offers 6-channel and 8-channel configurations and supports standardized and custom assembly combinations. Hybrid configurations allow RF signals and control lines to share the connector housing, making them suitable for electronic equipment with limited internal installation space.
The two parties are respectively responsible for high-frequency RF interconnect and micro connector technology development. Teledyne Storm Microwave provides RF connection design and Storm Flex cable technology, while Omnetics provides Micro-D connector architecture and high-density contact integration technology. Product applications include multi-channel RF signal connections in aerospace, shipborne electronics, radar, electronic warfare, and space systems.
