en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, LS Marine Solution and SK Broadband signed a memorandum of understanding in Seoul for emergency repair cooperation on submarine communications optical cables, planning to establish a joint fault-handling system for the SJC2 international submarine cable, which connects seven countries and regions in Asia including South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. The SJC2 submarine cable has a total length of approximately 10,500 km, and the two parties will focus on strengthening fault monitoring, emergency vessel dispatch, optical cable repair, and reburial construction for the shallow-water section along the coast of Busan, South Korea.

Under the agreement, LS Marine Solution will be responsible for on-site offshore construction, using specialized submarine cable operation vessels and diving construction teams to carry out recovery, splicing, and reburial of faulty optical cables; SK Broadband will be responsible for communications network monitoring, fault location analysis, submarine cable route data, and the supply of repair materials.

The two parties plan to regularly deploy emergency repair vessels and specialized equipment, and to standardize submarine cable technical data and fault repair procedures. The shallow-water section along the coast of Busan will serve as the key operating area, with repair tasks covering personnel and vessel dispatch, submarine optical cable recovery, splicing construction, and seabed reburial.

LS Marine Solution plans to expand the use of its specialized submarine cable construction vessel "Segye" (World). The vessel currently spends about six months each year participating in submarine cable maintenance operations in the Yokohama Maintenance Zone in the Asia-Pacific region, and the company intends to use its remaining operating periods to undertake additional emergency repair tasks.
