en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, GXO Logistics opened a logistics center in Medini, Johor, Malaysia, located within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and enjoying free trade zone status, with direct connections to regional manufacturing hubs, ports, and airports. The facility currently serves as a regional hub for a global semiconductor manufacturing equipment supplier.

The center corresponds to the "first semiconductor logistics win in Malaysia" disclosed in GXO's Q2 2026 earnings report. During its Q2 earnings call, GXO listed semiconductor logistics as a new business within its technology and data center vertical. In Q2, GXO generated revenue of $3.44 billion, with organic growth of 3.4%, and new business contracts worth $410 million, representing year-over-year growth of more than 30%.

Free trade zone status is the core differentiator in the operating conditions of this facility. Goods within the zone may defer customs duties, but treatment depends on the status of the goods, movement approvals, and the rules applicable upon exit from the zone; international shipments still require complete classification, origin, and destination documentation.

GXO stated that it is evaluating the addition of warehousing technology capabilities to the facility to enhance supply chain visibility and customer collaboration. At the Asia-Pacific regional level, GXO said in April 2026 that it plans to further invest in sales, marketing, and operational capabilities in Asia-Pacific starting from 2027, with Malaysia being one of its existing operating markets alongside Thailand and Singapore.
