US-based Sabanto Launches Row-by-Row Monitoring Autonomous Seeding System
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, US agricultural automation company Sabanto launched an autonomous driving seeding function compatible with the Precision Planting Gen 3 20|20 seed monitoring system, with application planned for the spring 2027 planting season. The new function connects Sabanto's autonomous tractor retrofit system with the planter's row-by-row monitoring data, enabling the retrofitted tractor to perform seeding operations without an operator in the cab and to automatically monitor the operating status of each planter row.

The new system uses Sabanto's vehicle operating system (vOS) to read planter data collected by the Precision Planting Gen 3 20|20, including row-by-row seeding status, seeding rate control, variable-rate seeding prescriptions and actual seeding records. When the performance indicators of a given planter row exceed a preset tolerance range, the vehicle operating system can respond and send a notification to the operator.
Growers can set tolerance thresholds for each planter row separately through Sabanto's vehicle mission control platform (vMC), determining whether to trigger equipment pause or notification in the event of an anomaly. Users who subscribe to the Precision Planting Panorama service can also remotely view seeding data recorded by the Gen 3 20|20 system.
The solution adopts the existing tractor retrofit approach: Sabanto provides the autonomous driving control hardware and software, while the Precision Planting system continues to handle row-by-row planter monitoring, seeding rate control and seeding records. Growers do not need to replace the entire planter for the added autonomous driving function and can continue to use their existing equipment that meets compatibility requirements.
During remote operations, the operator can supervise tractor operation through vMC. When an anomaly occurs in a given planter row, the system can send a notification or pause operations according to settings; the operator can then remotely check seeding data, adjust operating parameters, or instruct the tractor to return to the field edge for equipment inspection.
Sabanto has begun accepting orders for 2027 delivery. According to disclosures by professional agricultural machinery media, the retail price of the autonomous driving retrofit kit is USD 75,000, plus a USD 10,000 three-year subscription service fee. The newly added Gen 3 20|20 seed monitoring compatibility function is planned for application in spring 2027; specific equipment compatibility and delivery arrangements are subject to the company's sales configuration.
