en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 3, Estonian solid oxide technology company Elcogen announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Chinese water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment company Hygreen Energy, under which the two parties plan to jointly develop solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) and solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems and to advance the related technologies from laboratory scale to megawatt-level demonstration systems over the next two years. The scope of cooperation includes stack integration, system development, performance testing, and potential commercial applications.

Under the cooperation arrangement, Elcogen will provide solid oxide stack technology and engineering R&D capabilities, while Hygreen Energy will leverage its electrolyzer system integration and engineering implementation capabilities to explore incorporating solid oxide stacks into its existing hydrogen production equipment product portfolio. Hygreen Energy currently offers alkaline, proton exchange membrane, and anion exchange membrane water electrolysis hydrogen production equipment, and plans to expand its solid oxide technology product portfolio through this cooperation.

The two parties intend to jointly carry out SOEC and SOFC system development and testing over the next two years, progressively advancing from laboratory-scale validation to megawatt-level demonstration systems. The R&D work will cover stack and system integration, performance evaluation of equipment at different scales, and engineering validation for practical applications.

In addition to technical R&D, the two parties will also evaluate deeper commercial cooperation arrangements, including localized manufacturing, product supply, and follow-on technical cooperation. The related work will target China and other international markets to assess the commercial application of solid oxide electrolysis hydrogen production and fuel cell systems.
